News: At the turn of the 20th century, Jobe's Opera House was a meeting place and entertainment hall for all Johnson Citians.  Today, we remember that long gone public auditorium and discuss Johnson City's history.

The 1930s were a tough luck time in Johnson City.  The Depression was on; folks did not maintain their properties well; Al Capone was in prison and times were hard.   From 1930 to 1940 Johnson City only increased in population from 25,080 to 25,322.    The "Jake Leg" malady hit Johnson City hard:
